I wrote something. I thought you might like to hear.

Baths - Aminals

Can’t wait to start making some electronic music again.

Beautiful.

Beautiful.

It’s official. Need a haircut. Stat.

I’ve been writing piano songs. I missed it.

Are you well entertained? There is a fine line between blatant disregard and subtle cries for help. What shall I make of these hidden messages that jump out bold as the trapeze artist? For you, a scary thought is the unknown. I am afraid of being inadequate, so I will not allow myself to feel sub-par in any situation. If I must, I will run away to escape the burden of self pity. I will hide myself from you as best as I can in hopes that I left you with a fond last impression of my being. Doubtful, but such is life.

Teething

I use to be a gentle mind

My words were free and easy

And lungs held only oxygen

My spirit always teething

Yearning to forgive the men

I pardoned seven hundred

With need to start it all again

I gave God what he wanted

But seven hundred times they marched

And took my soul for granted

They starved the beggar, drowned the parched

And shot the empty handed

They travel in the name of God

To give him what he wanted

Now I don’t sing a hopeful song

Forgiveness has been stunted

The King In Yellow - Quarrel With Sleep

This song was just released by my good friends in The King in Yellow, and I must say that it feels a bit surreal. I’ve known these gentlemen for about 2 years now, and over those 2 years, we have all grown so much musically. Their lead singer, Andrew Carmichael, approached me a few months ago and said they were planning on recording at Glow In The Dark Studios in Atlanta (Copeland, Relient K, Underoath, and many more). I told him that if he needed another pair of ears to help refine their material before they started, I’d be willing to help.

I did not expect to be as involved as I was. I ended up having the privilege to write all of the lyric and melody for what would become “Good Ghosts”. I helped arrange and record all of the scratch demos up until the day before they went in the studio. When we got in the studio, I even had the opportunity to record harmonies, guest vocals, and a few key parts.

Long story short, I had an amazing time pulling ideas out of these very talented and fine lads and crafting them into songs. It was an experience I’ll never forget, and I am proud to present the first song we wrote together, “Quarrel With Sleep”.

I want to be free of desire. I don’t believe succumbing is the most prudent option. Neither is burying it in the yard to, once again, be uncovered. I want it to stop. Forever. I believe that is what contentment is. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced “content” in my life.
